- The PlayStation network has broken down for just over 12 hours
- While the breakdown seemed to settle after an initial point, it worsened in the past few hours
- We do not yet have an official cause or ETA for the moment when PSN will return to normal
The PlayStation Network has broken down for a little more than 12 hours at this stage, in what seems to be a major breakdown, and which is still very in progress, unfortunately.
Based on the DowndeTector reports, there was a huge peak of complaints initially, culminating at more than 14,000 reports, and which seemed to settle somewhat – especially without being completely resolved – before another smallest peak has not been touched and supported in the past hours.
Those who want to take a weekend session of Call of duty On PlayStation, or whatever their favorite online poison, can find it delicate at the moment.
Some users tell us that they are successfully arriving on PSN, but there are many other reports on X of players who cannot connect – and the official status, we will say, trembling.
An unhappy range of red lights
According to the PlayStation North American Support account on X, “some users could currently encounter problems with the PSN”, but there are no additional details, nor any idea of an ETA for a fix here.
We know that some users could currently encounter problems with the PSN. For more details: https://t.co/njx2xguszmFebruary 8, 2025
This message on X is just pointing the dashboard of the status of the PlayStation Network service, which currently displays a fairly disturbing table of red lights.
There are connection problems reported for PSN, and we are informed: “You may have difficulty signing or creating an account for PlayStation Network. We work to solve the problem as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience.
The red flag in the “Gaming and Social” part of the Note dashboard: “You may have trouble launching games, applications or network features.” Again, a resolution is promised as soon as possible, but as you probably know, they are heating messages. It is not as if Sony would not work to solve this problem quickly, right?
For the moment, however, we remain rather in the dark in all the causes, but since the red lights extend beyond PSN games and newspapers, to also include the PlayStation store, as well as the video PlayStation and Direct, it looks like could be thorny. Particularly given the prolonged nature of the breakdown so far.
We will closely monitor the situation and update this story if we hear something more concrete in the PlayStation support. But about all players can do now, it is keeping their fingers firmly crossed that this is not as complex as some of the indicators here suggest – and continue to try to connect.
