PTA to block the Sims of the deceased in the 30th

Lahore:

The National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) shared its data with the country’s telecommunications regulator – Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) – while the latter is preparing to launch a repression against those who use SIM cards emitted to people who have now died.

The PTA will block all SIM cards as they are also used in various crimes, including financial fraud, online scams as well as violent crimes. This great operation will start on June 30.

According to PTA sources, Nadra has provided PTA detailed data that includes a list of all relevant identity cards on which thousands of mobile phones are currently active. Based on the calendar offered by Nadra, this operation will be carried out in phases.

The disconnection of mobile sims will start on June 30 for those whose CNIC expired in 2017. The second phase will start on November 30, and in the final phase of December 31, all of these mobile sims will be completely deactivated.

Nadra officials said that if those close to people who have deceased or those whose CNIC expired wish to keep the Sims under their own name, they should update the files.

The identity cards of deceased people must be submitted to Nadra to ensure appropriate documentation. Otherwise, from June 30, the PTA will start to block all the Sims which operate on the identity cards of expired or deceased individuals.
