Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI) called on the federal government on Monday to convene a conference of all parties (APC) in response to the recent threats of India following the deadly Pahalgam attack.

Addressing a session of the Senate on Monday, the senator of the PTI Ali Zafar said: “People know very well the script of the drama of Modi”, adding that India could not unilaterally suspend the Treaty of Indus Water (IWT).

Finding the Indian allegations against Pakistan concerning Pahalgam’s attack as “baseless”, Zafar accused Prime Minister Modi of “directing India towards destruction”.

The attack on April 22 sparked indignation in India, his government blaming Pakistan – an assertion that Islamabad has firmly denied, calling it a “false flag operation”. In response to allegations and assembly pressure, India has announced its unilateral suspension of the Six Decades Water Treaty, increasing tensions more.

“If the government led by Modi even diverts a drop of water from Pakistan, it will be considered an enemy attack,” said Zafar during her remarks.

The head of the opposition to the Senate senator, Shibli Faraz, also spoke, strengthening the call for national unity. “We are united in defense of Pakistan,” he said, stressing that the country faces internal and external challenges.

Faraz has castigated New Delhi for trying to destabilize Pakistan and push an aggressive anti-Pakistan story. He said that India’s threats to water could not be considered “political statements” but should be treated as “war acts”, adding that the enemy actively foresee a fatal attack against Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the Senator of PML-N Irfan Siddiqui criticized the actions and the narrative construction of India after the pahalgam incident.

He said the international community rejected the “false allegations and propaganda” from India against Pakistan. “The world has not supported India’s position or its manufacturing. Their propaganda has been exposed,” he said.

Stressing the procedural irregularities, Siddiqui asked for how attackers could cross the highly fenced (loc) control line without being detected.

He noted that an attack for the attack had been recorded immediately and that the charges had been oriented against Pakistan before an investigation began. “It seems that the FIR was deposited first and the incident occurred later,” he said.

He also condemned India’s attempt to unilaterally withdraw from the Industry Water Treaty, recalling in the Senate that it was an internationally recognized agreement, supported by the World Bank.

“No country can unilaterally withdraw from the treaty. You cannot transform Pakistan into Karbala by cutting its water,” said Siddiqui.
