Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI) has announced that it will not participate in the government briefing on current Pakistan-India tensions after Pahalgam incident, Express News said on Sunday.

In a statement published after a meeting of the PTI political committee, the party reiterated its “unambiguous and coherent condemnation of all forms of terrorism”. The press release also underlined the repeated calls from the former Prime Minister Imran Khan to national unity and internal stability, even in imprisonment.

“Imran Khan, although he was illegally incarcerated, clearly denounced terrorism and urged the nation to the unity,” said the party, calling its message “reflecting the vision of a national leader”.

PTI reaffirmed its commitment to defend the country in the face of external aggression and cited a resolution adopted by its founding day condemning Indian actions and propaganda.

The party criticized the government for failing to convene a conference on all parties (APC), arguing that such a stage was crucial to establish a consensus on national security. Instead, said PTI, a government minister issued an effortless unilateral briefing to include key opposition figures like Imran Khan.

“It is simply a briefing led by the government without intention to forge a national consensus,” the statement said. “In these circumstances, PTI sees no value in participation.” The decision said the party, was taken unanimously by its political committee.
