Lahore / Islamabad:
PTI secretary general, Salman Akram Raja, said on Saturday that recent remarks of the leader of the Senior Party Azam Swati concerning a potential agreement with the establishment had no connection with the besieged party.
He said he didn’t know any current dialogue between the party and the establishment.
Addressing the media outside the anti-terrorism court of Lahore (ATC), Raja said that Swati could have act independently when he claimed to be in contact with key power brokers to negotiate an agreement “for the good of the country”.
“I cannot confirm such a development that after meeting the founding president of PTI, Imran Khan. The situation is not clear until then,” said Raja. “We are not allowed to meet him, and there is a considerable confusion.” “We do not support kidnappings or illegal detentions. If a dialogue can ensure the fundamental rights and personal freedoms of citizens, we would welcome it. But we cannot accept anything less,” he said.
The secretary general of the party also declared that the PTI had always pleaded for the rule of law, the supremacy of the Constitution and the country.
“This is our main ideology. If the process is moving forward from here, it’s good, but if someone thinks we are looking for an outing of a stolen door, it’s just not true.”
He added that the situation would become clearer once a meeting will take place with the founder of PTI, Imran Khan. “The reason why they do not allow us to meet the founder of PTI is to create an ambiguity. It is only after this meeting that we will know if he authorized a dialogue,” said Raja.
