An internal responsibility committee of Pakistan Tehreek-E-insaf (PTI) released the president of the assembly of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Babar Saleem Swati, allegations linked to illegal appointments.

The Committee report, published by the Legal Member Qazi Anwar Advocate, said that the accusations were made by former senator Azam Swati but were not supported by evidence.

According to the conclusions, the appointments in question occurred before the mandate of Babar Swati or were made in accordance with the established procedures.

The report also claims that Swati is targeted because of his loyalty to the founding president of PTI and his spouse, rather than for any administrative fault.

The Committee also noted that Babar Swati had addressed the assembly last November concerning the action of the police against PTI workers in D-CHOWK in Islamabad. The speech would have led to a broader debate in the House, with the participation of the government and the members of the opposition.

The report highlights the role of Swati in the submission of questions such as the Katlang incident, where he launched a discussion and saw a resolution adopted by the Assembly.

The Committee concluded that Swati’s political position and the loyalty of the internal party are the underlying reasons for the pressure it is currently faced.
