ISLAMABAD:

Senator Faisal Vawda said the next round of talks between the PTI and the government would likely take place after January 20, after the inauguration of US President Donald Trump.

“I think serious negotiations could take place after January 20, but even then they will take place on PTI terms. However, the so-called ‘trump’ does not seem very strong to me.

“If the Trump card somehow lands in Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s pocket through backdoor diplomacy, what will happen then? It’s a strong possibility. Seriousness is essential to negotiations.”

He added: “There is no negotiation, it’s just a joke at the moment.

He said that within the PTI, some compromised people want former Prime Minister Imran Khan to remain in jail or even suffer harm so that they can continue to derive political and personal benefits.
