Islamabad:
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI), the central information secretary, Sheikh Waqas Akram, praised the “ overwhelming response ” of the nation to the call by the incarcerated party, the supremo Imran Khan To observe the first anniversary of February 8 “electoral fraud” as a dark day.
On Sunday, in a statement, Waqas congratulated the public for standing against what he called the government’s “oppressive tactics”, demonstrating unwavering support for their leader thanks to a record public rally in Swabi.
Denouncing the government’s repression, Waqas condemned the arbitrary detention of PTI leaders and workers, as well as the violent abolition of peaceful demonstrations.
He said that the demonstrations was a legitimate response to the “mega flying survey committed on February 8, 2024 in broad daylight”.
He demanded the immediate release of all the leaders and workers of imprisoned PTI, saying that “awake nation cannot be intimidated or silenced by brutal and inhuman tactics”.
Waqas castigated the two dynastic political parties – PPP and PML -N – saying that they had been offered several times by the nation but had not prioritized their own interests, enriching the expense of the people.
He recalled that Imran Khan had long predicted that the Sharif and Zardari families were never in conflict for the well-being of the country but rather for their own political gains.
“Imran Khan had planned how these political dynasties would eventually unite against PTI in a desperate attempt to save their political fortunes in decline,” he noted.
He accused the PPP and the PML-N of forming a “marriage of convenience” because of their intertwined interests, adding that their so-called disagreements were only a distraction.
Regarding the repeated threats of the PPP to leave the government, Waqas rejected them as a ploy, declaring that the government used NAB to reopen corruption affairs against PPP leaders to maintain control.
He also ridiculed the “sweet relationships” between the two parties, qualifying their public disputes as simple ocular. “The two parties focus only on the safeguarding of their own interests, without any real concern for the well-being of Pakistan or the well-being of his people,” he said.
He also allegedly alleged that their ultimate objective was to dismantle the PTI by keeping Imran Khan, party leaders and workers in arbitrary detention, suppressing dissent and undergoing the democratic process.
Waqas condemned the government not elected for having submitted Imran Khan to “inhuman treatment, including lonely isolation and stripping it of all constitutionally and legally guaranteed privileges as a former Prime Minister”.
