Pakistan President Tehreek-E-insaf (PTI), lawyer Gohar Ali Khan, rejected any link between his party and the Pakistan Democracy Act on Monday ” recently in the House of Representatives of the United States, which requires sanctions against Pakistani officials concerning the alleged human rights.

Addressing journalists from the Parliament, Gohar said: “Countless laws and resolutions are adopted at the US Congress. PTI has no connection with this particular bill. ” He also said that the party had no contact with the American delegation currently visiting Pakistan.

The bill, presented last month by two American legislators, invokes the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act and calls for sanctions against people accused of persecuting the founder of the PTI, Imran Khan. It offers visa prohibitions and entry restrictions to Pakistani officials who have been involved in human rights violations.

Regarding political developments, Gohar said that PTI would finalize its future strategy after having trained an alliance with other opposition parties. He noted that the head of Jui-F Maulana Fazlur Rehman should announce the position of his party on April 15 after internal consultations.

PTI has accelerated efforts to form a large opposition alliance after Eidul Fitr.

Last month, he officially launched the Tehreek-E-Tahaffuz-eyeen-E-Pakistan (TTAP), a coalition that includes the Sunni Ittehad (SIC), Pachtunkhwa Mill Awami Party (PKMAP), Balochistan National Party-Mengal (JI) and Majlif (JI), Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM).

In a separate decision, PTI also contacted former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to join the anti-government movement. Addressing internal discord within PTI, Gohar said: “He is a Democratic Party, and everyone is free to express his opinion”, while encouraging leaders to manage party questions internally.
