Pti seeks JI’s mediation for the release of Imran

Lahore:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI) approached Jamaat-E-Islami (JI) to mediate with the federal government for the release of its imprisoned founding president, Imran Khan.

The confirmation came from Ji Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, who revealed that the senior PTI leaders had contacted him some time ago, asking the party to facilitate dialogue with the government.

According to Hafiz Naeem, Jamaat-E-Islami clearly indicated that such mediation would only be possible if PTI officially obliges Ji to direct these talks on his behalf.

“We have summoned a party meeting and decided that if PTI provides a clear mandate and remains firm on its position, we are ready to facilitate discussions with the government,” he said.

He also stressed that the country goes through a critical moment and that all political stakeholders must work together to advance Pakistan.

“We have clearly indicated that mediation is only possible if the two sides come with unambiguous positions. We will not be part of a process spoiled by ambiguity,” added Hafiz Naeem.

The deputy of Ji Ameer Liaqat Baloch also confirmed that the leaders of the PTI, including lawyer Gohar Khan, Senator Azam Swati and Ali Amin Gandapur, had contacted him in February 2025. He revealed that the discussions at that time had appeared to the government training at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, to whom Ji had responded positively.

It should be noted that PTI launched a 90 -day national protest campaign on July 13, calling for the release of Imran Khan. Meanwhile, the federal government has announced the formation of a new security force, a decision which aroused strong criticism from the opposition parties.

Political analysts suggest that a successful mediation by Jamaat-E-Islami could be crucial by breaking the political deadlock in force in the country.
