Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI) and former president of the National Assembly, Asad Qaiser, announced the launch of a lawyer’s movement against the 27th constitutional amendment planned, calling it a major threat to democratic standards.
The 27th potential amendment took place under discussion, once again, despite the federal government categorically rejecting the promulgation of new constitutional adjustments last month, which would have provincial rights.
“The PTI will also consult the lawyers for the 26th amendment,” said Qaiser, addressing a press conference flanked by the opposition Alliance Tehreek Tahafuz Ayeen-E-Pakistan (TTAP), Chef Mahmood Khan Achakzai and the former governor of Sindh Muhammad Zubair Umar, Sunday.
It should be mentioned here that the Party based on Imran Khan opposed the 26th constitutional adjustment and organized a ranging during the vote on the bill to modify the session of the National Assembly marathon, which adopted it in October of last year.
He alleged that the current system to govern the country is neither legal, constitutional nor democratic.
Qaiser said that the opposition alliance “is committed to using all the forums available against oppression and injustice”, adding that the party has designed a calendar describing the activities of the month.
The former goalkeeper of the Chamber also criticized the government for the disqualification of the PTI legislators, alleging that the National Assembly is “controlled” and has been transformed into “drama”.
He criticized the treatment of parliamentarians, claiming that they are confronted with humiliation before Adiala prison and are refused their right to inspect the conditions of the prison despite parliamentary rules granting such visits.
By questioning the legality of the ban on prison visits legislators, Qaiser said: “MPs have the privilege of visiting prisons around the world – why is it refused here?”
He also said that all current decisions were made under “administrative pressure”. He asked that the cases of the founder incarcerated from the PTI Imran Khan and other political prisoners be heard and strictly deciduous on merit.
Addressing the press conference, Achakzai warned that the falsification of the Constitution would shake the very foundations of Pakistan.
Zubair also told journalists that each Pakistanis wanted to raise their voice against this system, adding that the PDM [Pakistan Democratic Movement] finished three and a half years, referring to the power coalition.
“The assertion that Pakistan was lacking was false – the country was never on the verge of default,” said Sindh’s ex -government. He added that statements on the sacrifices of politics to save the state were false.
