Rawalpindi:
The chief boss of Pakistan Tehreek-E-insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, said that no candidate would be presented on the seats left vacant by disqualified members of the party, affirming that the disqualifications had been carried out by “illegal means”.
This was revealed by Imran’s sister Aleema Khan, who spoke to the media outside of Adiala prison. She said that her sister Uzma Khan had been allowed to meet Imran and her wife Bushra Bibi.
Aleema quoted Imran as saying that he was satisfied with the public participation rate during the demonstrations of August 5 despite what he described as “the oppression and intimidation of the State”. “He expressed his gratitude to the population for having been standing in the face of injustice,” she added, noting that Imran was particularly encouraged by the demonstrations held in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.
The PTI chief boss would have noticed that the former dictators do not use the type of oppression today, reflecting a parallel with General Yahya Khan. “Even Yahya has divided the country for power, and today the media have been silenced,” said Aleema Imran. “Freedom still requires sacrifice.”
Aleema said that the former Prime Minister had given a new protest call for August 14, urging the public to get up for “real freedom” and “the rule of law”, adding that Imran urged his party leader not to fear arrests or imprisonment.
Imran has also sent a message to the government of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, demanding the end of current security operations in tribal districts.
“The operation is underway to generate resentment against PTI,” said Aleema Imran, adding that problems should be resolved by Jirgas.
If Ali Amin Gandapur cannot stop the operation, then he should think about what should be done, said Imran as indicated by his sister.
The PTI chief boss also declared that no candidate would be presented on the seats left vacant by disqualified members of the party, noting that the disqualifications were carried out by “illegal means”.
