Rawalpindi:
A media conference in Pakistan Tehreek-E-insaf (PTI), the sister of the founder Imran Khan, Aleema Khan, outside of Adiala prison, again fell into chaos on Monday, while party workers were turning against journalists for having asked difficult questions.
Tensions were raised since last week’s incident, when two women launched eggs in Aleema at a press conference at the same place. The egg launch episode would have been triggered by the sharp questions of journalist Tayyab Baloch, who remained unanswered at the time.
Determined to prevent a rehearsal of embarrassment, the PTI workers would have tried to take control of the start of the press on Monday, preventing Tayyab from asking questions.
However, the journalist persisted with the same requests as before, arousing indignation among workers. The situation quickly intensified by pushing and pushing, Tayyab carrying the weight of the assault.
Ironically, no leader of the Senior PTI intervened to calm workers while they disabled journalists. To protest, the fraternity of the media boycotted the briefing of Aleema, citing the failure of the party to limit the misconduct of its workers and the indifferent attitude of its leadership.
Last week’s egg fighting incident had already put PTI under the spotlight. According to a spokesperson for the Rawalpindi police, the two women involved – affiliated to PTI – were placed in police custody after Leema refused to answer questions at the previous press conference.
Journalists have repeatedly insisted Aleema to respond to the allegations raised by Mmar Solangi in a tweet, accusing him of buying properties using donations. Tayyab said he faced an orchestrated social media campaign and even threats after raising the problem during last week’s interaction.

Meanwhile, the attack on Aleema aroused strong criticism through the political gap, the legislators of the Treasury and the opposition condemning the launching incident of the eggs.
Shoes and ink have been launched and abuses launched our chiefs at the request of PTI. I even survived an attempted assassination fueled by the Pti Hate campaign. However, I unequivocally condemn this incident. Politics must remain a competition of ideas, not violence or hatred. We should…
