Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Founder Chairman Imran Khan welcomed the meeting between the party’s outgoing president Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur with Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir.

The meeting, held in Peshawar, aimed to address key political and security concerns, Express News reported.

After his meeting with Imran Khan at Adiala jail, lawyer Gohar informally addressed the media, emphasizing the importance of following the PTI founder’s directives.

He explained that any future disclosures regarding the meetings would only be made when Khan personally asked him to do so.

Gohar reiterated that all actions he took were in line with Khan’s directives, terming the talks with General Munir a positive development for the country’s stability.

Gohar also highlighted the PTI’s key demands, including the formation of a judicial commission to probe two significant incidents. He said: “We have always kept the door open to dialogue, while others have kept theirs closed. If this dialogue progresses, it will be beneficial for the stability of the country.”

At the Peshawar meeting, Khan and Gandapur raised their concerns directly with General Asim Munir. Gohar confirmed that the meeting resulted in positive progress, suggesting that potential solutions were being explored.

However, the meeting was marred by tensions between Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa political figures. A disagreement broke out between CM Gandapur and Governor Faisal Karim Kundi over allocation of Rs500 billion for counter-terrorism efforts.

Gandapur accused Kundi of spreading misleading information, leading to a heated exchange. The conflict intensified when Awami National Party (ANP) leader Aimal Wali Khan accused the provincial government of harboring Taliban elements. Gandapur responded by defending its past involvement in the Afghan Jihad and calling for clarification of the allegations.

Amid the tensions, General Asim Munir and other political leaders have worked to refocus the debate on regional security issues.

Lawyer Gohar stressed the importance of addressing security issues in Parliament, calling for a national approach to the current challenges.

After the meeting, Imran Khan visited Parliament, where he met PTI Negotiating Committee Chief Omar Ayub. Gohar conveyed Khan’s special message to the committee.

Reports suggest that Ayub is expected to hold a press conference soon to discuss the next steps in the party’s negotiations.
