Pakistan Television (PTV) launched its new digital English language news channel on Wednesday on Wednesday, PTV Digital, aimed at projecting Pakistan’s perspective to the world public and to counter anti-Pakistani stories.
Prime Minister Shehbaz inaugurated the canal by revealing a plaque at a ceremony attended by the Minister of Information Attaullah Tarar, the information secretary Ambreen Jan and other senior officials.
The new channel is part of PTV’s efforts to extend its digital footprint and initiate international viewers with Pakistan’s points of view on regional and global problems.
He also visited various sections of the channel, met with young professionals and praised their enthusiasm, qualifying their crucial role to counter external stories and to emphasize that the enthusiasm of young professionals would be “vital in the battle of stories against external propaganda”.

Shehbaz said the main objective of the platform was to provide authentic news while effectively responding to false statements and disinformation on Pakistan.
He also recorded his first interview for The Channel, from which extracts were broadcast later by PTV.
“If you are in the right direction, you engage with all your passion and energy to serve the cause of your country, it is a huge inspiration,” he said. Asked about his vision of Pakistan in the next decade, the Prime Minister said that he hoped to see the nation “standing with remarkable achievements in matters of economic prosperity, peace and happiness”.
Information of the Prime Minister, Tarar said that PTV Digital would serve as credible and proactive voices for the country, would fill the shortcomings of information and promoted public diplomacy via an English platform. He noted that the chain would focus on international affairs, cultural ideas, economic progress and analyzes.

He added that the canal would combine internal relationships with a global network of freelancers and partnerships with wire agencies such as Reuters and Associated Press (AP) to ensure real -time, verified and high quality coverage.
The initiative, he said, aims to counter the unilateral stories widespread in the Western and Indian regional media.
Tarar added that the chain’s strategic objective was to “deliver the history of Pakistan first, before others defined it”.
