Public service stores have no role in the Ramazan package

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Tuesday that the government would unveil the Ramazan rescue package this year without the role of public services stores aimed at preventing corruption and distribution of low -quality basic products to the people.

“While Saint Ramazan is about to start, I asked the Ministry of National Food Security to cause a Ramzan package without public service stores [Corporation (USC)] To prevent the corruption and the sale of poor quality materials. I had asked several months ago that this could not continue with public service stores, “said the Prime Minister in his remote opening remarks at the meeting of the federal cabinet chaired by him.

He told members of the cabinet that last year, the government had received numerous complaints concerning the execution of the Ramazan package by public service stores. Consequently, the government has designed a solution to provide installation less public service stores.

The Prime Minister ordered the immediate measures to operationalize the port of Gwadar on a commercial basis and asked for the training of a committee under the chairmanship of the Minister of Planning Ahsan Iqbal to work with all stakeholders to transform it into A modern and fully functional port.

Iqbal gave a detailed briefing on the port of Gwadar at the meeting of the cabinet.

The Prime Minister also directed the organization of an international conference to raise awareness of the importance of the port of Gwadar. “A complete marketing and awareness strategy should be designed and diplomatic efforts concerning the port of Gwadar must be accelerated.”

He also asked for details on imports and exports carried out via the port of Gwadar. The meeting was informed that the port of Gwadar had the capacity to provide profitable and economical access in time to the Persian Gulf for ships up to 50,000 thousands of dead weights (DWT) and to facilitate the Transith to the Gulf countries .

It was revealed that between 2018 and 2022, criminal negligence was shown concerning dredging in the port of Gwadar which seriously affected its depth. However, dredging was completed in 2022-23, after which its depth was restored. All the necessary public services services had now been provided at the port of Gwadar, it was added.

The meeting was also informed of several public well-being projects in Gwadar, notably the Pak-China Friendship hospital, the Gwadar Institute of Technical Education, the Pak-China Primary School, the Gwadar Livelihood Project, the Gwadar Fisheries Processing and Export Zone and Gwadar Solar Park.

The Prime Minister was informed that the government was also trying to link Gwadar to the main cooking recipes on the main line of railways in Pakistan

The Gwadar-Cquerta motorway was completed in 2018, benefiting from areas such as Turbat, Hoshab and Panjgur. In addition, the remaining sections of the M-8 motorway (Gwadar-Hoshab-Rato Dero) were under construction to connect Gwadar to Sukkur.

To further improve the connectivity of Gwadar-Conquetta, the Nokundi-Mashkhel route was under construction, while work on the Mashkhel-Panjgur road would start soon, it was said.

The work on the Gwadar East Bay motorway was carried out at fast speed while the work on Gwadar Safe City was completed in collaboration with the Balutchistan government.

The Minister proposed to modernize the inspection installations of goods from the port of Gwadar and to use artificial intelligence for this purpose. The Prime Minister appreciated the briefing.
