The Department of the Interior of Punjab has published a list of prohibited organizations, urging citizens not to donate to these non -registered and prohibited charitable groups.
This decision is part of the continuous efforts of the government to limit the financing of terrorism and guarantee that charities do not support illegal activities.
The list of prohibited organizations began with the measures taken on August 14, 2001, when the State imposed a ban on Lashkar-E-Jhangvi and Sipah-E-Muhammad Pakistan. Subsequently, on January 14, 2002, other groups such as Jaish-E-Mohammad, Lashkar-E-Taiba, Sipah-E-Sahaba Pakistan, Tehreek-E-Islami and Tehreek-E-E-E-E-Muhammadi were also prohibited.
According to a statement published by the Punjab government, providing any form of support for these proscribed organizations is a violation of the 1997 anti-terrorism law and punishable under the law.
The declaration also pointed out that individuals have found that prohibited caregivers involved in terrorism and anti-state activities will face legal consequences. He also specified that, in accordance with Punjab regulations, the province’s charitable organizations were to be registered with the Punjab Chariting Commission.
Citizens were invited to give their zakat, their charitable organization and other contributions only to the organizations registered with the Punjab Chariting Commission. The authenticity of these recorded organizations can be checked via a QR code on their certificates.
The declaration also stressed the importance of ensuring that donations reach legitimate beneficiaries and do not end up supporting terrorism or criminal activities. The details of the registered organizations can be found on the Charity Commission website.
The declaration also encouraged citizens to report fraudulent or suspect activities, including those involving organizations that can finance terrorism, state anti-activity or personal gains.
Complaints can be filed with the interior department of Punjab, and individuals can report fundraising activities by prohibited organizations through free numbers 0800-11111, or telephone assistance number 042-99214871 and 042-99214872.
