Punjab Govt grants life pensions to widows

The Punjab government has increased the provincial minimum wage to 40,000 rupees per month and ensured life pensions for widows of government employees. The reforms were adopted at the 28th meeting of the cabinet, chaired by chief minister Maryam Nawaz, where a complete 130 -point program was approved.

The cabinet approved the allocation of 1,220 apartments for industrial workers in Sunder, Kasur and Taxila Labor Colonies to be distributed by ballot, while firmly rejecting suggestions to invoice the housing workers. He also asked officials to take immediate measures to build 3,000 additional apartments for these workers.

The education policy has experienced a major update with official assessments confirmed for Grade V and official exams for Grade VIII. Meanwhile, life pensions have been approved for widows of government employees, improving social protection.

An important wage reform has also been approved, with a minimum uniform monthly salary of RS40,000 set for 102 categories of skilled workers, semi-qualified and others.

In recognition of flooding efforts, the CM has announced bonuses of 50,000 rupees for the rescue worker while renting the agency’s performance and underlined the government’s commitment to support leading workers.

Expanding prisons reform, the cabinet sanctioned official industries in correctional establishments where prisoners will receive wages and have directed the creation of a third -party surveillance system for prison operations.

To promote private investments, the approval has been granted for an online petrol pump license portal requiring only six documents instead of sixteen, allowing investors to obtain digitally – a decision described as a “historic step” towards the ease of approval.

Workers’ safety was also discussed by the adoption of safety and health rules in Punjab 2024, marking a first in the province. Maryam has ordered the creation of a specialized application force to guarantee compliance in high -risk sectors such as construction and sewers.

She stressed that the promulgation of laws alone is not sufficient: implementation and application at all levels are essential, because the life of workers is invaluable.

Government representatives have also approved children’s work restrictions via the Punjab children’s labor rules (prohibition), unified appointment procedures for the main academic administrators, IA-based traffic systems which take place within 90 days, the expansion of WASA services at 13 new cities, remunerated internships for hospital nurses and diverse Legislative measures covering the recruitment of telecommunications, research on sucking advice and sugar advice.
