In a major operation against the breeding of illegal livestock, the Punjab cattle department made a descent into a private distribution company in private sperm in Lahore, recovering 931 doses of unregistered cum. The raid was led by Dr. Mujahid, deputy director of Lahore City Tehsil, as well as his application team.
According to officials, the seized sperm included genetic equipment from local and foreign races, none of which was recorded with the Livestock Breeding Services Authority (LBSA), Punjab.
Repression is part of a broader campaign in the province. Following inspections in several districts, a total of 11 FIR were recorded against individuals and institutions involved in unauthorized artificial insemination practices. These include non -registered artificial insemination technicians (AIT) and sperm distributors.
More specifically, two Aits in Kasur, a sperm distributor in Lahore, two Aits in Sargodha and one at Jhang, Layy, Attock, Vehari and Rajanpur were reserved. In addition, a sperm distributor in Gujranwala also faces legal action.
The livestock department has urged breeders and cattle farmers to obtain breeding services and genetic materials only from registered and authorized sources to ensure animal health and the quality of race.
Commenting on the operations in progress, the Punjab cattle secretary Ahmad Aziz Tarar, said that a strict action will continue against all those involved in illegal reproduction practices. “Such illegal companies will in no case be tolerated in the circumstances,” he said.
The Director General (extension), Dr. Muhammad Ashraf, stressed that only registered and trained personnel should be engaged for artificial insemination in order to protect the interests of farmers from farming and improve the quality of the breed. He reaffirmed that the ministry will maintain a blind and effective application against any illegal activity in the breeding sector.
