The Punjab Department of Education has announced its intention to install security cameras and advanced surveillance systems in the provinces of the province to improve security.

Surveillance cameras will be placed at school entries to monitor activities and strengthen security measures. These cameras will be equipped with facial recognition technology to help identify students, teachers and visitors, according to the Department of Education.

Authorities will receive daily surveillance systems reports to improve surveillance and administration. The ministry said that this decision aims to prevent unauthorized access, theft and vandalism while guaranteeing safer environments in high -risk areas such as corridors and playgrounds.

In an emergency, such as intrusions or accidents, systems will provide real -time data to the authorities for rapid action. The measures are particularly important in Lahore, where schools welcome large students of students, officials said.

Earlier, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) education department had prohibited public schools from organizing outings, visits and picnics for students, citing security reasons.

A notification of the primary and secondary education department has asked all public schools in the province, including those of the merged districts, to enforce the prohibition.

District education agents (DEO) were responsible for ensuring strict compliance with the order. Officials said this decision aims to improve student safety by keeping them in a controlled environment, reducing external risks and concentrating resources on internal security.

“These steps will help ensure a safer educational experience for students and staff,” said an official.
