The Punjab government has approved a new ration cards program to provide financial support to 1.5 million workers and daily employees in the province, officials announced on Thursday.
The decision was finalized at a meeting of the cabinet chaired by chief minister Maryam Nawaz in Lahore, where it was agreed that eligible workers would receive a monthly allowance of Rs 10,000 as part of the new initiative.
The program is designed to mitigate economic pressure on low -income households and is part of a wider set of reforms approved by the firm.
In a parallel development, the firm has changed the control order for food grain licenses, 1957, which makes me compulsory for flour factories to obtain at least 25% of their wheat diet through regulated sources.
In addition, changes in the 2005 law on punjab consumer protection have been approved. These changes grant powers to additional session judges to serve the judicial consumption authorities, strengthening legal monitoring of consumer rights.
The rationing program closely follows the launch of the province’s intelligent environmental protection force – a pioneer environmental initiative led by the Minister -in Chief. High -tech force includes mobile laboratories, surveillance of drones and air quality monitoring tools in real time, aimed at slowing pollution and ensuring regulatory compliance.
The two regimes highlight the multisectoral approach to the Punjab government to reform and well-being, focusing both on economic inclusion and environmental sustainability.
