Punjab to restore 170 tourist sites

The chief minister of Punjab Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif in principle approved a plan for the construction, repair and restoration of 170 tourist and trails in the province.

Chairing a meeting, she also approved a proposal to create the first Punjab Tourism and Heritage Authority. Tourist sites would have been decided in various cities, including Lahore, Multan, Bahawalpur, Chakwal and Jhelum.

Participants agreed to develop the Changa Manga forest park and LAL SUHANRA National Park for the promotion of ecotourism. It was also agreed during the meeting that the 2025 Punjab Tourism and Heritage Authority law will be presented to improve governance for the promotion of tourism.

Participants were informed in a briefing that the first complete tourism application of Punjab had been developed and would soon be launched.

The application will allow a virtual visit of 170 tourist destinations. The “magnificent Punjab application” includes all the features related to tourism, including travel and hotel reservations. The delivery of food and other services will also be obtained via the application with information via a chatbot.

The chief minister has approved the most important and complete tourist plan of Punjab, under which heritage, antiquities and religious, historical, old ecotourism will be promoted throughout the province.

Tourist villages will also be built to give them a feeling of proximity to ancient civilization.

Tourist trails will also be developed for the first time in Punjab.

Mall Road, the fortified city of Lahore, the Sikhs and Mughal monuments of GT Road are included in the tourist trails. The salt range, the tourist trails of Bhati Gate, Gujranwala, Aimanabad and Sikh will also be developed. As part of the plan, the tourist places of various cities will be developed as tourist clusters.

The Taxila, Dharma Rachi Ka, Jolian, Sarkep and Giri Forted Museum linked to the civilization of Gandhara are also included in the tourist plan.

The Multan Living Heritage Site, Qila Kuhna Qasim Bagh, will be restored as a symbol of the Civilization of the Indus valley.

A path will be developed in Uch Sharif for the convenience of pilgrims.

A proposal for the restoration of the old buildings of Gurdwaras and the churches for the promotion of tourism was also examined.

Head Minister Maryam Nawaz said on this occasion: “We lay the foundations for the promotion of world tourism in Punjab.”

She said the government wanted to develop all tourism destinations in accordance with international standards. Taxila will be made a complete tourist site where a five -star hotel will also be built.

She added: “We have put all our concentration on the promotion of tourism in Punjab where a tourist hub will be established.”
