Publishes a list of prohibited entities; says all charities must be registered with the Punjab Charity Commission
The Punjab Home Department on Friday released a list of banned organizations and unregistered charitable institutions, warning citizens that providing any form of financial assistance to banned organizations was a punishable offense under the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.
According to a statement by the Punjab Home Department spokesperson, citizens have been asked not to give Zakat, charity or donations to unregistered and banned organizations as helping entities involved in terrorism and anti-state activities would attract strict legal action.
He stressed that all charitable organizations operating in Punjab must be registered with the Punjab Charity Commission (PCC).
The spokesperson advised the public to ensure that their donations reach deserving beneficiaries instead of falling into the hands of banned groups, adding that registered organizations could be verified through the QR code printed on their certificates.
