QAU students are held in the Auberge litigation

Islamabad:

Police arrested dozens of students from Quaid-i-Azam University during a raid early in the morning at the inn on the complaint of university administration.

The university administration completely canceled inns number 6, 8, 9 and 11 and arrested around 60 students who were transferred to the secretariat police station.

Providing details on the action, the administration said that the students had been responsible for leaving the hostels by July 13 for maintenance work to be carried out during the summer holidays.

Noting that a large number of students had already left the hostels, others received multiple deadlines to comply with the directives and were finally expelled after the expiration of the final deadline.

Expanding the issue, Islamabad police said that “legal assistance had been provided at the request of the university administration”.

Students who resisted this peaceful process were moved from the inn and legal action will be taken on the written request of the university administration, the police added. Meanwhile, human rights lawyer Imaan Zainab Mazari-Hazir said that up to 72 students had been placed in police custody.
