- Three out of five companies explore quantum ai
- Data analysis and automatic learning are a key application for technology
- High costs and lack of knowledge and skills are obstacles to complete adoption
Companies know more about the quantum AI you might expect, with more than three in five actively investing or exploring technology, said new research.
A SAS report has revealed to what extent the most popular application of technology is in data analysis and automatic learning (48%), research and development for a second (41%) and cybersecurity fairly close in third place (35%).
The flexible chain and logistics (31%), finance and risks management (26%) and marketing (20%) are also areas that are explored for the use of quantum AI.
IA Quantum could be the next development of AI
The company noted that “quantum AI” is the combination of AI as we know it today with the power of quantum computer science, allowing the development of new algorithms, models and other systems that can process complex data, form complex ML models and solve problems that would otherwise be considered very difficult or impossible with today’s technology.
However, the usual obstacles apply in accordance with any new technology, with high costs (38%), a lack of knowledge or understanding (35%), uncertainty about real use cases (31%), a lack of trained workers (31%) and a lack of regulatory guidelines (26%) all more in detail.
SAS even recognized that there was a lot of media threshing around quantum IT and quantum AI, adding that today’s research on the subject can be confusing.
“With the emergence of quantum technologies, companies can analyze more data than ever and obtain incredibly rapid answers to very complex questions involving a myriad of variables,” said Bill Wisotsky, the main quantum architect SAS.
Although many argue that the use of quantum AI could still be years, even decades -, today’s research has opened the way and many companies are already starting to explore the applications of emerging technology now.
Among the main industries that should benefit from quantum AI, let us quote the life sciences for the discovery of drugs, financial services for risk management and manufacturing for optimized processes.
