Another close shave. After some unlucky assumptions and a savage (Pushy was an extremely improbable clearance of clearance), I managed to finish the puzzle today.
The word in progress is automatically connected to “The game is underway”, an idiom pronounced by Sherlock Holmes in Watson when his detection senses are bitten by a case. The sentence was not invented by the author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, but by Henry V of Shakespeare and his passionate plea for the English to take up arms.
Whatever its origin, today’s classic game was not in progress, but the sequence was certainly and I somehow removed the hats rabbits to evoke the four words. A very common experience.
