The recent weather conditions in Pakistan have resulted in a sharp drop in temperatures, intensifying cold in several regions.
While precipitation in the plains and snowfall in the upper regions of Dera have added to the cold, the inhabitants now turn to warmer clothes for relief as the cold deepens.
According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), in the upper regions, snowfall have caused serious disruptions.
The roads leading to higher areas have been blocked, and the combination of heavy rain and snow has resulted in power outages, deadly feeders and leaving streets sipped with water. Companies and houses in many areas are struggling with these challenges linked to weather conditions.
The impact of the weather was particularly obvious to Swat, where the plains experienced continuous precipitation and the upper areas continue to see intermittent snowfall.
In the past 24 hours, Mingora, Saidu Sharif, Kabal and the neighboring areas have been subjected to sporadic precipitation, while strong snowfall persisted in Kalam, Gabral, Mahodand and the surrounding regions.
Despite the cold in progress, the roads to the higher regions remain open, although the authorities have issued warnings due to the risk of landslides in these regions.
The State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) advised to travel beyond Sharda, because the threat of landslides remains high.
While the Sharda’s Neelum highway in Toubat has been reopened for traffic, managers urge residents and tourists to avoid any unnecessary trips in these weather conditions.
Meanwhile, in Quetta, the temperature dropped at 7 ° C, with a humidity level of 33%. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted rain with thunder in Quetta and the surrounding area today, adding to the unstable time in the region.
On the other hand, Karachi should feel hot and dry in the next 24 hours, with temperatures that should vary from 20.5 ° C to 39 ° C.
Light winds from the northeast blow across the city, with a level of humidity of 70%, but no significant precipitation is expected in the coastal metropolis.
Looking at the wider region of Punjab, the PMD has planned a cloudy time for several districts, including Lahore, with light rains expected in certain parts of the divisions of Rawalpindi and Gujranwala.
In Lahore, the sky will alternate between the cloud cover and the brief moments of the sun, but the chances of rain remain slim today.
However, from March 11 to 13, the weather at Punjab should be cloudy, with light showers in various regions. In addition, the rain is scheduled for March 14 and 15.
Despite the forecasts, Lahore experienced dry conditions yesterday and there is no significant risk of rain today.
The province of disaster management (PDMA) also issued a meteorological opinion, warning that the rain will continue throughout the region from March 9 to 16.
