- Razer has revealed a new range of Blackshark V3 Pro helmets
- There are dedicated versions for PC, PlayStation and Xbox
- This is part of the wider thrust of the brand in the console space
The Razer game equipment brand has unveiled the new Razer Blackshark V3 Pro Line, with dedicated options for PC, PlayStation and Xbox players.
Successor of the excellent Razer Blackshark V2 Pro, an extremely popular helmet that we have awarded four in five stars on our review, the Razer Blackshark V3 PRO introduces for the first time a hybrid active noise cancellation.
It has four microphones to detect and help filter background noise, as well as comfortable memory foam ear to provide an ideal adjustment.
It is also the first Razer helmet to benefit from the brand’s new Wireless Gen-2 technology, reducing audio latency as low as 10 milliseconds claimed. According to Razer, it puts it long before competition and makes it an ideal choice for professional players.
In addition to a slightly revised global design, there have been substantial changes under the hood. The helmet now has Gen-2 triforce 50 mm drivers with diaphragms of bio-cellulose, completely redesigned for more precise audio and spatial precision.
The microphone has also been upgraded, with a huge 48 kHz sampling frequency which puts it in competition with some of the best microphones for streaming at the moment.
The Razer Blackshark V3 Pro launches in three variants, each adapted to its distinct platforms. The PC version supports Audio Spatial Thx, while the PlayStation variant is entirely compatible with Audio Tempst 3D. The Xbox options are therefore designed with Windows Sonic space sound in mind.
The three cost $ 249.99 / £ 249.99 each, and come to black or white colors. Although the Xbox and PC versions are available now, the PlayStation variant will arrive at shelves on a later date.
They go alongside the more affordable Blackshark V3 Razer and the entry -level Razer Blackshark V3 X Hyperspeed. These two models are also available in separate PC, PlayStation and Xbox flavors.
Razer goes all in the console space
The launch of these new helmets represents something of a change for the brand of equipment traditionally very focused on PCs, which now aims to become a major player in the console space.
“So, I think that in the past, we had really worked as very distinct entities with regard to PC and console,” explains Paige Sander, evangelist of the main product of Razer’s product.
“We have taken a step back and we realized that, as we have so much credibility and innovation in the PC space, why not take some of these emblematic things, like Blackshark V2 Pro or as our mouse click switches, and bring them to our console products?”
In the end, “it is a question of bringing these innovations to console players so that they obtain the same level of performance and the functionalities focused on sport”, although Sander admits that there are specific considerations during the design of a console product.
“The most important thing is to ensure that it is really optimized for the platform for which it is designed. This is why we make an adjustment of the driver specifically on the platforms, to ensure that the audio is really composed,” she said. “In addition, things like 3.5 mm intake. We know that many console players like to plug in helmets directly into their controllers, so we made sure that this function was present.”
Razer also carefully plans to comments from professional players, a formula that has proven itself for its PC products.
“We also worked specifically with the pros of the Space” Snip3down “console on Xbox,” Shotzzy “on Playstation”, reveals Sander.
“These are their favorite platforms when they play, and we therefore made sure to work directly with them on the development of their FPS profiles, on some of the design elements such as the subtle Xbox and PlayStation Stitching that you will see on our helmets.”
According to CIRANA market research firm, the RAZER Blackshark V2 Pro is currently the most popular PC game helmet in the United States.
Will Razer find similar success on the console market? Only time will tell us, but I certainly look forward to taking these new models for a tour.
