Reference filed to cancel the license of Imaan Mazari

Islamabad:

An official reference was submitted to the Islamabad bar council requesting the cancellation of the lawyer for lawyer Imaan Mazari to practice law. Development is the result of a growing legal and professional dispute involving the chief judge of the High Court of Islamabad (IHC), Sarfaraz Dogar.

According to Express News on Tuesday, the reference was filed by lawyer Adnan Iqbal, who alleged that IMAAN is involved in activities “considered against the State”. The petitioner asked the Council to revoke its license permanently and launch an official investigation.

This development is involved in the wake of the climbing of tensions between Imaan and Chief Dogar. Last week, a verbal exchange took place during a hearing on a petition requesting the return of the name of the Baloch Yakjehti committee, Mahrang Baloch, of the exit control list (ECL), a case in which IMAAN appeared as a council.

During the hearing, the IHC chief judge urged Imaan, declaring: “You should keep your mouth closed and stay within the limits of respect”, would have answered the remarks of Imaan, he said, outside the legal scope. He also described her to have described him as “dictator” and refused to issue a directive in this area.
