Reham Khan, politician and former wife of the founder of PTI, Imran Khan, said that he could receive a certain relief if he “asks for mercy”, but keeping it in prison for a long period is unlikely.

Speaking at a press conference at the Karachi Press Club, she criticized the political emphasis on the surety of Imran Khan. “Everyone is obsessed with a person’s surety. But why are there so many concerns? Even Trump will help the prisoner,” she said, without directly named Imran.

Reham underlined the loyalty of former American president Donald Trump to his allies. “Trump supports his friends. Three billions of dollars were behind him. Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla and X, and even the owners of Meta and Amazon supported him,” she said.

However, she rejected the idea that powerful world figures will support Imran Khan. “People who shape the progressive world do not waste their time on leaders have failed and deposited. They do not make bad investments.”

Reham said that simple letters of appeal would not be enough to guarantee the release of Imran Khan. “If he begs mercy, he may get relief. But I can’t see him being kept in prison for too long,” she said. “He hasn’t even finished two years yet. No career politicians have been imprisoned for so long.”

She also alleged that no friendly country was willing to accept Imran Khan. “Even if Western countries are impatient to house it, the establishment will not let it go.”

Reham revealed that she planned to train her own political party rather than joining an existing party. She criticized PTI’s past media policies, saying that she had been prohibited from television during their reign.

She has rejected any personal interest in Imran Khan or PTI’s policy, declaring: “I am not news about it, and I am not interested.” She also made fun of the idea that Imran had written letters in search of the Clemence, saying: “Were they written with ink or with her nose?”

Reham said she had personally seen PTI leaders “begging for mercy” and suggested that similar actions could lead to the possible release of Imran Khan.

Turning to national policy, she criticized the current state of governance. “There is no government visible in Karachi, and Lahore is not clean. Governance means facilitating people’s lives.”

She also accused the PPP of staying in the background while the PML-N bore the weight of the government’s responsibilities. “The one who is in power will end his full five -year mandate.”

Reham expressed his sympathy for PTI supporters, calling them “innocents induced in error”. However, she clearly indicated that her sympathy did not extend to party leaders. “If I had sympathy for PTI leadership, things would have been different,” she said.
