With only two remaining days before the deadline for illegal foreign residents and card holders of Afghan citizens (ACC) to leave Pakistan, the authorities reaffirmed on Saturday that the repatriation process will be conducted without ill -treatment. The government has assured that food and health establishments have been organized for those returning. However, strict legal action will follow against the people who stay in Pakistan beyond the deadline. It is relevant to note that, in accordance with the government directive, all undocumented foreign nationals and ACC holders must leave the country by March 31. On March 28, the number of Afghan nationals who had left Pakistan had increased to 882,768, and the process continued at full rate. It is relevant to note that a high -level meeting has been informed that the government has completed the preparations to hold and expel a specific category of Afghan nationals once the deadline of March 31 for the expired voluntary repatriation. Predictive by Interior Minister Mohin Naqvi, the meeting was informed that all the necessary arrangements had been put in place to repatriate ACC holders. Officials have said that detention centers have been created to accommodate Afghan nationals before their expulsion, equipped with food and health care products. Naqvi said the federal government was coordinating closely with the provincial authorities to ensure a smooth process of repatriation. He assured that Islamabad would support full support for the provinces in the execution of the operation. Meanwhile, the International Organization for United Nations Migration (IOM) reported an increase in the number of Afghan citizens returning to their country of origin – either voluntarily or by expulsion. The report noted that the number of Afghans back in the third week of March was 102% higher than those who left Afghanistan during the same period. According to the Snapshot to monitor the flow of IOM, 73,364 people entered Afghanistan, while 36,166 Afghans left the country during the same period. The report awarded this unusual increase in the movements of Pakistan and Iran to the voluntary yields of Afghan nationals. In addition, compared to the previous week, Afghanistan entries increased by 2%, while outings decreased by 13%, which highlights the continuous trend of repatriation.
