Criticism against the British royal family intensified after a BBC report said that public funding from the royal house has tripled in real terms since 2012.
According to the BBC, the increase in funding was largely driven by repairs and construction work at the Buckingham Palace.
The anti-monarchy group, Republic, used the report to feed his campaign against King Charles and his family, demanding the withdrawal of the United Kingdom monarchy.
The group highlights the report and the criticisms it has attracted to its social media accounts, in particular X, formerly Twitter.
He also organized a demonstration at Trafalgar Square, London, calling on the King to be replaced by an elected Democratic Head of State.
Meanwhile, Republic’s CEO Graham Smith appeared in the British broadcaster GB News and targeted Prince William, the eldest son of King Charles and the heir to the British throne.
He said “part of the problem with them and part of the problem with William, who is online to be the next monarch, is that he is incredibly lazy. He does nothing.”
Smith said: “During the last month, he did about four days of work. When I say to work, I mean, introduce yourself and shake people. Most of which are done in or near their home.
He added, “They cost us. They cost us half a billion per year. For a whole family, which we do not need, including the people most people have never heard of, they are all included in this cost. ”
