Response requested regarding the increase in fuel prices

.

LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has sought answers from the federal government and other respondents on a miscellaneous petition challenging the recent increase in oil prices.

Justice Khalid Ishaq heard the petition, which claimed that inflation in Pakistan had already reached alarming levels, adversely affecting citizens and businesses, and the latest hike in petrol and diesel prices had further increased the burden on the public.

The petitioner argued that oil prices are not aligned with international market rates and the government does not have a transparent mechanism to determine fuel prices.
