Back from Venus Williams to tennis The court is in full swing.
Only a few weeks after having become the oldest woman to win a single game since Martina Navratilova in 2004, Williams will have a chance to make even more history at the We open After obtaining an invitation to Joker.
Williams will also compete in mixed double with Reilly Opelka later this month. (Imagn)
The 45 -year -old Great tennis is entering the last Grand Chelem of the calendar year as the oldest competitor in simple since 1981 – an important step previously set by Renee Richards, who was 47 years old. She also occurs two years after her last appearance in New York, where she came out after a defeat in the first round.

Williams began her return last month when she participated in the Open DC. She beat her American compatriot Peyton Stearns in two sets to go to the second round, winning her first game 16 months after her last professional competition.
“It’s not easy to detach yourself after all this time and play the perfect match and all WTA players play incredible. Peyton played so well. I felt like I was trying to slow down. We were going faster and faster and faster,” said Williams after the 6-3, 6-4 victory.

Tennis Great Venus Williams won the DC open match for the first single victory since 2023
“It’s just about assembling everything. You can still play a good game and lose the match. I wanted to play a good game and win the match. It’s so rewarding to come back after layoffs and injuries, and you know, I didn’t have to come back to play as well.”
She continued to participate in the Cincinnati Open last week on another invitation to the Joker, coming out after a defeat in the first round.

In addition to his entry into simple, Williams will also compete in mixed double with Reilly Opelka later this month.
