Return to paradise season 2 returns (pardon the pun) to BBC iPlayer in the UK on October 31 and will arrive on ABC in Australia on November 15.
It’s not your typical Halloween content, but don’t underestimate the drama to come. As Season 2 begins, Mack (Anna Sansom) is still stuck in Dolphin’s Cove, the house we saw her return to in Season 1 after working for the London Metropolitan Police.
This time around, there are all-new cases to solve, an epic roster of guest stars, and one question that won’t let up: Can Mack and Glenn (Tai Hara) really be together?
After so much intermittent tension, this was a question I desperately wanted to get to the bottom of. Fortunately, I had the chance to ask Anna Samson herself, and she mentioned significant “emotional blocks”…but not Mack’s.
Return to Paradise Season 2 Highlights Glenn’s ‘Emotional Blockages’
Look on it
“I think Mackenzie still feels condemned in her emotional life. I don’t think she considers herself lovable,” Samson tells me. It’s not about the fact that she doesn’t like people or care about people. She thinks she is unworthy of love as such.
“So I think a feeling of loneliness is something that she carries with her at all times, and that’s where the feeling of unhappiness comes from.”
She continues: “It’s a pretty tragic story in many ways, these two characters. You see more of Glenn’s emotional blocks in season 2. It’s not just Mackenzie who makes things difficult, he has a responsibility and his own problems.
“They both bring their own psychology and damage, and we’ll see more of Glenn in season two.”
That’s a lot for any relationship, let alone a single season of television. If Return to paradise follows his predecessors Death in paradise And Beyond paradiseWe have plenty of future seasons left to watch.
While we don’t yet know what challenges lie in Mack and Glenn’s path, don’t be surprised if there are no clear resolutions in Season 2 (and that’s a good thing).
