Riley Gaines highlighted a difference in Simone Bile’s personal attack on her when she called for the possibility of a third category for transgender athletes to compete.
Gaines broke the publication on social networks which targeted it with biles in a recent episode of the Podcast “Gaines for Girls” in Outkick. The former NCAA All-American swimmer specifically talked about the Olympic gymnast, the implore of creating a “new avenue where Trans feels safe in sport” and offering the idea of a “transgender category in all sports”.

“I don’t think she realizes that in this sentence, she admits that these people who say” they are transgender women “are really only men,” said Gaines. “She admits that by saying that we should have a third category. I hope she realizes it.
“Secondly, this has been done several times now. Final (now known as World Aquatics), which is the international director of swimming, they were very quick to do so. Following the national championships, they declared that we created a third category, even with international competitions, those who identify as transgender, we are welcomed who are non -binary.
World Aquatics has developed the open category for transgender athletes who have been prohibited from competing with the sex they identify. Lia Thomas challenged the change of rule of the organization and lost in the arbitration courtyard for sport last year.

In addition, World Aquatics was forced to remove its open category race during the Berlin 2023 Swimming World Cup due to the lack of interest.
“This compromise you are trying to do, don’t come to me,” said Gaines. “You should go to the other side and see what they think of this compromise, because it is a compromise that they are not willing to do.”

Thomas won an NCAA championship in 2022. Almost three years later, the NCAA changed its genre participation policy to try to align with the executive decree “No Men In Women’s Sports” by President Donald Trump.
