Decentralized Layer 1 Blockchain XRP Ledger’s (XRPL) Sidechain Compatible with Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) should be put online in the second quarter, said Jaazi Cooper, director of product management in Ripple in Singapore.
EVM compatibility refers to the blockchain’s ability to execute decentralized applications based on Ethereum and intelligent contracts transparently.
The XRPL EVM Testnet Sidechain was put online at the start of this year and experiences rapid growth, according to Peersyst Technologies.
“87 New Entities – Without prior XRP involvement – now contribute to the ecosystem: infrastructure, applications and generation of demand,” said Peersyst on X. “When Mainnet is put online, all of this is part of the XRP ecosystem – perhaps the biggest interest in XRP history.”
The EVM Sidechain will allow users to potentially generate a yield via DEFI applications, such as liquidity pools and intelligent contract interactions.
