“But, as you know, these insane acts of violence and hatred are too often occurring in our country and in the world – in schools, in churches, in synagogues, in places where it simply should not happen. We must all continue to be vigilant and to continue to protect ourselves and that the NFL would continue to do it with our employees and our people.”
Goodell has specifically started to choke in speaking of “the outpouring support”, all of the government’s representatives, to the teams and the coaches, gave the League in this difficult period.
But Goodell made sure to emphasize that it did not only affect the league – it is much more than that.
The NFL publishes a declaration after a mass shot at the headquarters of the League in New York: “Resilient and United”
“Remember that this attack is much more than on several individuals. It is an attack on our humanity, it is an attack on our community, it is an attack on New York, it is an attack on our way of life,” he said. “We all have to do more and make sure we do everything to get help to people who need help. And also, taking the necessary precautions. I assure you that our employees will work hard.”
GOODELL was one of those who attended the funeral of the female officer of the NYPD Didarul Islam, who died after Shane Tamura, 27, sparked a ball barrage in the hall at 345 Park Avenue. Tamura finally followed her life on the 33rd floor of the building.
“Someone we see outside the building almost every day,” said Goodell, holding his emotions. “It strikes the house loss, unnecessary and inexplicable loss. It is something that all of us as New Yorkers feel great pride for the NYPD and all they do and all the first stakeholders. It was a difficult and emotional afternoon. But also a huge comforting service for him.”
As for the NFL employee who was injured during the shooting, Goodell said he visited him for about an hour on Thursday. He improves in the hospital and surrounded by those he loves.

“An incredible young man, so we are optimistic for his recovery and I think that is good news for all of us in the NFL and, obviously, our hearts continue to support his family,” said Goodell. “He has a young family, and [I] I had the chance to meet his brother, his parents and I think it’s something that is really difficult for all of us to understand and manage. “”
New York mayor Eric Adams revealed on Fox 5 Ny “Good Day New York” that Tamura was aiming for the NFL when he presented himself to the office building in Midtown Manhattan, which also served as a workplace for other companies, including the investment company Blackstone and Rudin Management.
Tamura would have had a grievance with the NFL, referring to football sport giving it chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), which is a side effect of repeated blows. Adams said Tamura had taken the bad elevator bench inside the building after attacking those in the hall.
Goodell was in contact with all the league employees from Monday evening, where he revealed that a staff member had been injured during the shooting. He sent another memo saying that all workers based in New York should be distant at least next week.
This is a difficult period for many, including all those of the NFL, but Goodell knows that sport can sometimes serve as healing.

“We think the NFL brings people together, and we will continue this,” he said. “We are going to be raised by our own efforts to bring the National Football League to our fans. It is something that I think that our employees are very proud, and that is why these people are there this evening by starting this process to ensure that people can take advantage of the National Football League. We will put our employees as our main objective, but we think that we can also bring our country together.
“We will continue. Maybe with broken hearts, but we will continue.”
