The Punjab Assembly should meet on June 11, because a summary proposing that the session was sent to the governor, according to official sources.
The provincial government is preparing to present the annual budget for the year 2024-25 on June 13, the financial service finalized the agreements.
Budgetary documents have been sent for printing, and the Minister of Finance Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman is writing his speech on the budget.
Sources indicate that chief minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered that no new tax is introduced into the upcoming budget.
The proposals of the Board of Revenue and the Punjab returned Authority suggesting new tax measures would have been rejected. Instead, the government examines existing taxes to assess the potential changes in their rates.
The total size of the upcoming budget should be around 1,200 billion rupees.
Particular attention will be paid to health, education and tourism in the new budgetary plan. Compared to the previous year, the education budget will see an increase of 10 billion rupees, while the health sector allowance should increase by 90 billion rupees.
Tourism should receive a significant boost, with an increase of 600% of funding. The tourism budget is estimated at RS35 billion.
One of the flagship initiatives in the new budget is the expansion of health establishments in the medical city of Nawaz Sharif de Lahore, where additional hospitals will be built as part of a public-private partnership model.
The provincial government also plans to introduce sanitation and drinking water systems specific through Punjab.
The development of infrastructure will be another major objective.
The transport network is extended to additional cities, while road and infrastructure projects are planned for 66 cities in the province.
The government aims to promote inclusive growth and improve public services without adding new tax charges to the public.
