Peshawar:

Wednesday, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly approved an additional RS192.74 billion budget for the current financial year (2024-25), authorizing 62 financing requests covering additional departmental expenses.

This decision sparked an opposition parties, which organized an ardent demonstration and a break -up, denouncing this decision as proof of the imperfect planning of the provincial government and the defective economy.

The speaker Babar Saleem Swati presided over the session, who quickly transformed after having invoked special powers to reduce the requests of the opposition to the bulldozer and accelerate the budget.

The members of the opposition, like the brand, the exercise of a question of “failure of disastrous policy”, allegedly alleged that this marked the 14th additional budget under the 13th anniversary rule. They castigated the frequent use of such budgets, arguing that when they are not controlled balloon expenses from year to year and questioning the government’s proclamation of a surplus.

Dr. Ibadullah, chief of the opposition, trampled in the debate with figures. “The surplus does not correspond to the bill,” he said, highlighting the amazing provincial debt from 150 billion rupees to 800 billion rupees under successive PTI administrations.

He questioned the logic of the approval of patchworks budgets when nearly a third of the development funds had become unattractive and presumed 200 billion rupees of financial irregularities according to the conclusions of the general auditor.
