Islamabad:

Electricity consumers will obtain relief from the power rate of RS4.0349 per kWh in the bill for the month of July, according to the decision made Wednesday by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) during a petition issued by the K-Electric (KE).

The KE petition concerned a provisional adjustment of fuel costs (FCA) for the month of April 2025, indicating a relief from RS4.0349 per kWh to transmit to customers of the metropolis in their monthly invoices for July 2025.

Fuel load adjustments are incurred by public services due to the overall variations in fuel prices used to produce electricity and changes in the production mix. These costs are reflected in customer invoices after examining and approval of NEPRA.

Customers also benefit from a negative FCA in their invoices when world fuel prices decrease. The rates billed to customer invoices are determined by NEPRA and informed by the federal government.

In accordance with NEPRA’s decision, the FCA applies to all categories of consumers, with the exception of life consumers, protected domestic consumers, electric vehicle load stations (EVC) and prepaid electricity consumers of all categories that have opted for the prepaid tariff.

The NEPRA has temporarily kept an amount of 800 million rupees with regard to adjustments due to the partial charge, the open cycle and the degradation curves as well as the start -up cost in accordance with the NEPRA decision concerning the generation rate for the control period in July 2023 of the FCA for April 20 25 to be adjusted compared to the complaints suspended from KE to ensure that consumers are not collected at the later stage.
