Rawalpindi:
The Rawalpindi University Hospital (RTH) approached Rawalpindi’s Commissioner, the Board of Return (Bor), the Punjab Secretary Health and the District Development Committee to build a surgical tower and a 100 -bed traumatology center on the Fawara Chowk Roz Demoli Cinema website, Raja Bazaar.
Meanwhile, the Municipal Rawalpindi Corporation (RMC), which has already built a limit wall around the site, offered a several floor parking space in the same place.
The historic hospital of Fawara Chowk – of course the headquarters hospital and now improved at the Rawalpindi university hospital – is located next to the site of the old Roz cinema. After the expiration of the cinema lease and an order for the suspension of the court was lifted, the RMC demolished the structure and locked up the One Kanal Eight Marla Terrain with a high limit wall. The company then submitted a proposal to the Punjab government for the construction of a parking space on the site.
On the other hand, RTH currently operates with a very limited emergency installation of only 30 beds and is overloaded with patients. The hospital administration proposed the construction of a surgical tower, a heliport and a 100 -bed trauma center on the site.
According to Dr. Ikramullah Khan Niazi, RTH’s medical superintendent, the site was initially allocated to the hospital in 2006, but the construction could not continue due to a suspension order of the court. Now that the legal obstacles have been authorized, the hospital has again submitted the proposal to the Secretary of Health.
The case was also brought to the attention of the Rawalpindi commissioner, who returned it to the Bor. The question was raised at a meeting of the District Development Committee, where those in charge stressed the urgent need for expansion due to the overwhelming load of hospital patients.
If it is approved, the project would not only establish a modern trauma center, but would also include a heliport for air ambulance services on the roof, considerably improving the provision of emergency health care in the region, added Niazi.
However, when contacted, the chief director of the RMC, Imran Ali, said that the vacant land is a municipal property, and the company intends to build a several storey parking space.
The project aims to mitigate traffic congestion and provide parking solutions for the surroundings, including Fawara Chowk, Raja Bazaar, Cachemiri Bazaar, Ganjmandi, Liaquat Road, Iqbal Road and Jinnah Road, he adds.
