- The rumor says that Nvidia would have RTX 5080 and 5070 Super variant hampered with 24 GB and 18 GB of VRAM
- They could also be very overclocked and could increase performance by 15% compared to their vanilla versions
- The prices will be crucial, and Nvidia can be so worried about the RX 9000 family of AMD that it could stick to the same PDSP as the RTX 5080 and 5070
We hear more GPU GPPEVINE gups on what Nvidia may have started super variants of its RTX 5080 and 5070 graphics cards.
Following rumors about these potential upgrades to existing blackwell GPUs that float last week – insisting that the RTX 5080 super will increase the amount of video RAM at 24 GB (from 16 GB) – we heard a regular leak on Youtube on this subject.
In a new video (see below), Moore’s law died to emphasize that none of the information he has represents concrete plans of Nvidia – which also operates for previous rumors – but it is nevertheless interesting to chew the alleged reflection within the company at the moment.
Which is, according to a source from one of Nvidia’s graphics card manufacturing partners, that there have been RTX 5080 GPUs with 24 GB and RTX 5070 cards with 18 GB in laboratories since last year.
In other words, tests on these models have taken place for half a year (or more – and various rumors also go back to a sense). However, Nvidia told card manufacturers that these variants are “ pending ” until the situation concerning the prices of the video RAM improves – to make the price labels on these super suitable models acceptable for PC players – or until Nvidia sees if these variants are really necessary according to what AMD does.
There was a new development last week, however, since the source says that Nvidia now says that the super graphic cards RTX 5080 and 5070 are now “probable” at some point in 2025.
They will be apparently highly overclocking versions of these two GPUs with the respective charges of 24 GB and 18 GB which have already been rumor (against 16 GB and 12 GB currently).
Of course, be careful about this statement, but be even more careful with speculation around the performance stimulation that this could provide. The source thinks that we will examine super graphic cards between 7% and 15% faster than RTX 5080 and 5070 vanilla.
And the prices? This is not yet confirmed, as you would suppose, since we are not yet close to the launch. However, according to the source, NVIDIA could consider keeping the MRSP the same as current price labels for RTX 5080 and 5070, or alternately, by applying a slight increase (perhaps 10% or 20% perhaps for RTX 5080 24 GB, YouTuber assumptions).

Analysis: Being of the big cannons to be pulled in AMD?
A performance gain of around 10% to 15% would be impressive for the super variants which use the same heart as the Vanilla RTX 5080 and 5070. It is because these (theoretical) gains come entirely from the increase in VRAM and the push of clocks (by a little, I suppose – which will also increase power consumption, it should be noted).
It should also be remembered that the fact of Ratcheting Up Vorm from 6 to 8 GB could make a difference with certain games in certain scenarios, where this capacity is more important. And that the performance gain mentioned would bring the RTX 5080 Super for more or less corresponding to the image frequencies delivered by the RTX 4090.
If Nvidia really plans to maintain prices at the same level as the RTX 5080 and 5070 while giving players that kind of boost, this shows that everything related to AMD. As the source indicates, the RX 9000 series has “frightened” Nvidia and we certainly see the red team winning GPU lawn in the battle of graphics cards of the current generation.
I am not surprised that Nvidia therefore felt the heat and plans to launch super Versions RTX 5080 and 5070 which strike the shelves as much more tempting potential purchases. The latter is particularly necessary, because as we have seen, the GPU RTX 5070 Vanilla received a lukewarm reception, and it seems that sales have been fragile – and it is the battlefield of mid -range mid -range with AMD.
There is actually the RTX 5070 stock now among large retailers, and prices are not too bad either for these models. Although, of course, if a super convincing RTX 5070 arrives, presented to the same PDSF (or perhaps only 10% more), it could create a enough touch. And then NVIDIA should ensure a robust supply or to face criticism on the stock front.
This is why if these super refreshments really occur, I foresee that they will not arrive later in 2025. Unless Nvidia really transpires how the discreet GPU market share Amd Amobte (and that Team Green has the capacity to launch the production lines properly also).
