- The Fitness Runna application has just launched races by Runna, a new breed platform
- Users can choose a race and integrate it “transparently” with Runna’s plans
- “ Tens of thousands of races in ‘several countries promised for expansion
The Fitness Runna application is well known as one of the best fitness applications for runners, thanks to its generated and adaptive training plans. Now, he launches a platform to find you the right race in which also participate – and automatically generate a training plan to drive you until the day of the race.
Runna unveiled Runna races, a new website that would be “separated” from its popular app while operating with “transparent integration”. The new platform will be a search engine that allows users to find and register for races in several countries, although we do not yet know what regions are deployed first.
Runna races will allow runners to “browse thousands of events in the world without juggling several tabs or incomplete lists”, which simplifies the registration process. Users will be able to browse the races via labels, ranging from standard distance and hours of the year to more specialized beacons filtering for events with specific elevation levels, climates, night races and even dog races.
Runna states that once a race selected, users with a Runna account will be able to “instantly” a personalized Runna training plan around him. Presumably, if you enter a 10 km race in three months, you will be able to enter the desired hours in your Runna application and follow the instructions to generate a plan according to your objectives and the route. It only remains to shop for some of the best running shoes to help you cross the line.
This is one of the first major major features of Runna after its acquisition by Strava earlier this year. In a statement included in the press release, the CEO and co-founder of Runna, Dom Maskell, said: “We realized that we were well placed to build the most complete race discovery platform in the world and it was a real love work of our team. Having Strava alongside us will help us further strengthen our credibility in this area.”
The platform is now available in public beta, with extensions provided for events in “multiple” countries.
Analysis: a complete all-in-one solution
Finding a breed can be difficult: often, it is a question of scrolling through alphabetical order on several registration sites until you find something that is at the same time at driving distance and far enough to adapt to your calendar. Even then, it’s a bit of a blow in the dark, and various sites organize different events.
Runna races could be about to change it. Even if you are not a Runna subscriber – and this is a very good application, win 4.5 stars in our official Runna review – a complete tag system to filter for the races you want to be obvious.
I opened the first version and tried to look for a “ fun race ” 10k filled with nature in or around my local city, and I had a perfect match at an event in next March, which corresponded exactly to my criteria. I would probably not have heard of the event if I had not tried to look for races.
With the support of Strava – providing partnerships with major event companies such as Let’s do this – it seems to be a recipe for success. With the public beta now available, I will dive to find my next race very soon.
