Moscow: Russia has said that talks to end the war in Ukraine have made progress, but described its contacts with the United States as difficult and complex.
“Contacts are quite complicated because, of course, the subject is not easy,” the spokesman for Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov told journalists.
“Russia has undertaken to resolve this conflict, ensuring its own interests and is open to dialogue. We continue to do so.”
US President Donald Trump said on Friday that he wanted to conclude a peace agreement quickly, but could not be involved in finding a regulation indefinitely “if one of the two parties makes the task very difficult.”
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, speaking earlier in Paris after meeting European and Ukrainian leaders, said the parties had a few days to show progress or that Washington would abandon his efforts.
When asked if the United States could withdraw from the search for regulations in Ukraine, Peskov said it was a question for Washington.
“We believe that some progress can already be noted,” said Peskov, citing a temporary moratorium on strikes against energy infrastructure, although he said that Ukraine had not adhered to him.
“Consequently, some developments have already been carried out, but, of course, there are still many complex discussions to come.”
Peskov, when asked if the energy moratorium was over, said that it had already been a month, but that no president had been received to change the position of Russia.
Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chief of the Russian Security Council and representing Russian Hawks, expressed his approval for American remarks on the social media platform X.
“US officials said if there was no progress in the Ukrainian case, the United States will wisely was washing, MEDVEDEV wrote in English.
“And the EU should do the same. Then Russia will discover it faster.”
