“ Russia wants to strengthen links with Pakistan ”, Putin says to PM Shehbaz

Beijing: Russian President Vladimir Putin reaffirmed Moscow’s desire to strengthen relations with Pakistan, stressing the importance of expanding cooperation in several sectors.

He transmitted this during a head-to-head meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Beijing.

Speaking on occasion, President Putin said that Russia undertook excellent relations with Pakistan and is eager to further strengthen bilateral links.

He noted that Pakistan is currently faced with natural calamity and has expressed sorrow in the face of losses caused by recent floods.

President Putin, expressing his opinions, said that they had held a meeting about a year ago, on the sidelines of SCO in Astana.

“Pakistan has always been the traditional partner of Russia in Asia, and it remains. We appreciate these links considerably,” he said, adding that the two parties had agreed to intensify their bilateral relations.

The president noted that their bilateral trade should be improved and, in this regard, he stressed for taking measures to solve the problem.

He also considered that the two countries continued to cooperate at inter-parliamentary levels, adding that “Pakistan is a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council and that the two countries kept contacts within the framework of the United Nations, which is an important platform.”

He invited the Prime Minister’s summit to the OCS in Russia in November.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz has reaffirmed Pakistan’s desire to improve relations with Russia, in particular in trade and in other areas of cooperation. He stressed that Pakistan wanted to expand collaboration with Moscow in several sectors.

The Prime Minister also stressed Pakistan’s commitment to promote peace, development and prosperity in the region.

He expressed the confidence that together, the two countries would make new efforts to promote bilateral links and cooperation, in particular in trade and trade.

Last year, the bilateral trade in Pak-Russia experienced a peak while Pakistan imported Russia oil, which led to an increase in commercial volume, he added.

Prime Minister Shehbaz also said that after their meeting in Astana, the two countries attended a wave of delegation visits to the next level, adding that they have also signed protocols to promote the sectors of agriculture, iron, steel, energy and transport.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of the form of the commercial corridor of Bélarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Pakistan, which would give a spur to regional connectivity and prosperity.

Expressing his satisfaction, he said that the two parties were strongly determined to establish their relations. The first first expressed his gratitude to the Russian president for supporting Pakistan which was considered “an act of balancing in the region”.

He declared that Pakistan respected the bonds of the Russian Federation with India, but they also wanted to establish very strong relationships with his country which would be additional and complementary.

He expressed that these beneficial links would increase the progress and prosperity of the region and assured President Putin to work in close collaboration in this context because he had found it “a dynamic leader”.

Prime Minister Shehbaz arrived in Beijing by Tianjin by Bullet Train after attending the 25th meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

It was received by Wang Hong, member of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress at the South Beijing station.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister of Planning Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister of Information and Dissemination Attaullah Tarar and special assistant by Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi also accompanied the Prime Minister.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Shehbaz held a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, in which the two leaders reaffirmed their strong determination to deepen and strengthen the bilateral partnership based on strategic cooperation between Pakistan and China.

“Pakistan is very proud of the achievements of China,” said the Prime Minister, adding that Pakistan will always be ready to work with China in this big trip.

Meanwhile, President XI reaffirmed Beijing’s commitment to held in Pakistan in all areas of economic growth.

By reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace and cooperation, Prime Minister Shehbaz said that SCO reflects Islamabad’s lasting determination to strengthen regional connectivity and collaboration.

Calling for the maintenance of bilateral and international agreements, PM said: “We [Pakistan] Expect that OCS member countries will follow all bilateral treaties. He added: “Pakistan believes in multilateralism, dialogue and diplomacy, not unilateralism or confrontation … There is nothing more sacred than sovereignty and territorial integrity for any nation.”

Prime Minister Shehbaz has also called a complete dialogue to solve long -standing problems in South Asia. “Stability in Afghanistan remains in the interest of the whole region,” said the Prime Minister.
