Ruthless heat respite on the horizon

Islamabad:

Friday, hot and dry weather prevailed in most regions of the country, especially very hot in the plains of Punjab and Sindh, where temperatures oscillated between 40 and 50 ° Celsius.

The country has been in the grip of a hot heat wave since last week. However, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) provides for a change in calculation of weather conditions in the coming days that could calm the heat wave.

According to the PMD, the highest temperature on Friday was recorded in Jacobabad in the Sindh at 50.5 ° Celsius and Sibbi in Balutchistan at 47 ° C. The cities of Punjab declared a temperature exceeding 40 ° C. The humidity level was also very low.

In Karachi, however, the temperature increased to 39.1 ° C with up to 70% humidity. The metropolis is currently under the influence of cyclonic circulation of the Indian State of Gujarat. In other parts of the Sindh, time has remained hot and dry.

The PMD said that a new West wind system was likely to enter the upper parts of Pakistan from Friday, bringing rain accompanied by winds and gusts, which would continue intermittently until June 16.

The rain is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mianwali and Sargodha. The forecasts also extend to the center of Punjab, where cities like Lahore, Faisalabad, Jhang and Toba Tek Singh could undergo precipitation dispersed in the coming days.

At the top of the Sindh, all districts should receive precipitation linked to thunderstorms, providing an essential relief from extreme temperatures that have seized the region, said the PMD, advising citizens to take the necessary precautions in areas subject to urban floods or strong winds.
