Ryan Gosling stunned fans with his latest career turn following his film’s massive box office success. Hail Mary Project.
Gosling had signed on to star in the untitled Universal Pictures project, directed by Oscar-winning duo Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (Everything everywhere at the same time).
The film, billed as a “fun sci-fi action comedy with a big heart,” was set to begin production this summer in Los Angeles, supported by a multimillion-dollar California tax credit.
Gosling’s casting was celebrated as a major victory, especially after his worldwide box office triumph in Hail Mary Project.
But in a dramatic twist, Weekly Entertainment revealed that Eva Mendes’ partner had left the project.
After the tax credit, the production could not change its filming dates and Gosling’s busy schedule could not accommodate the dates since it already includes Tough guys with Will Ferrell and Star Wars: Starfighter.
The Daniels remain attached to direct and produce under their Playgrounds banner, with Jonathan Wang producing.
Gosling’s departure, however, left fans wondering who would replace him.
