Ryzen 9 9900X of AMD obtained a massive price drop but expected after the launch of the 9900x3d

This is what I found after collecting data on 24 AMD processors, I could get prices and availability and criticized the figures at the time of writing.

The 9900X is the fourth fastest office processor in AMD on CPUBENCHMARK, but also the one that obtained the lower price drop – almost 25% – after the launch of the 9900x3D on March 12.

A price reduction of almost a quarter is nothing to sniff for a processor near the best performers.

This model is popular with anyone looking for high performance, without premium price, on various workloads such as video edition or game development, as in the PC 3XS GWP A1-R24 of Scan.

It sold on Amazon at the time of writing $ 374.72 down compared to $ 499, its lowest price of all time

This Zen 5 part, launched in August 2024, has 12 cores, a basic speed of 4.4 GHz, a L3 12 MB cache as well as a 120W TDP.

He reached 54,836 on CPUBENCHMARK, my default benchmark for processors.

It is a 146 -dollar jaw, almost 10x better than the Ryzen Threadripper Pro 7995WX (15) and 26% better than its biggest brother, 9950x.

It also has the cheapest cost per nucleus at only $ 31.23, the fastest maximum third speed (5.6 GHz) and, as for all Ryzen processors, it has 1 MB of L3 cache per nucleus (in this case, 12 MB for 12 cores).

This is the third of several articles based on data that I have compiled on 41 CPU Zen 4 and Zen 5 (Sockée, OEM). In the rest of the series, I will examine the cost per nucleus, the performance by nucleus, the AMD processors which become more expensive, all with the new Ryzen 9900/9950 x3D processors in the backdrop.

In other words, no AMD processor offers any performance by unit dollar than the Ryzen 9 9900X.

THE Ryzen 5 9600X is the second model of the hierarchical order on the value-meter at 131 points per dollar or 5000 points per nucleus, the highest of all the AMD processors ever tested on Cpubenchmark-there are still 19 which have not yet been compared.

The mysterious Ryzen 5 9600

Keep an eye on the Ryzen 5 9600A processor that has been published recently and has not attracted as much attention as the biggest models.

It has a slightly lower basic speed, but I expect it to be the cheapest Zen 5 processor in the AMD list.

A retail price less than $ 200 and a slightly lower CPUBENCHMARK score that the 9600X would allow it to exceed Ryzen 9 9900X at the top of the ranking.

Surprisingly however, neither the Ryzen 9900X nor the Ryzen 9600X fell the best -selling classification of the best -selling processor on Amazon.com.
