Abandoned South Africa against Pakistan
The third T20I between South Africa and Pakistan in Johannesburg was washed away smoothly by persistent rains. The match was initially delayed by lightning in the area, before a steady drizzle set in. Wanderers’ drainage is exemplary and the ground staff have remained in balance. When the rain briefly subsided, an official inspection was announced and grounds staff sprang into action. But before that could happen, the rain came once again.
Two hours after the official start of the match, it was finally canceled, Heinrich Klaasen and Mohammad Rizwan shaking hands near the dugouts. This means South Africa seal the three-match T20I series 2-0, having triumphed in the first match by 11 runs and the second by seven wickets.
The series now moves to Paarl, where the first of three ODIs between the teams will take place. It will be followed by a match in Cape Town and the Pink ODI back in Johannesburg, before two test matches in Centurion and Cape Town.
